Processing garbage and trash into renewable energy significantly increases the life of the Miami-Dade landfills by approximately 30 years. Without the Resource Recovery facility, Miami-Dade's existing landfills would reach capacity in 5 years.

There are approximately 2.5 million residents in the County, amounting to 1.5 tons of garbage and trash generated per person.
The County Solid Waste Department controls approximately 1.8 million tons of the 3.5 million tons generated by the County.
Montenay Power Corp. as the operator of the Miami-Dade Resources Recovery Facility processes 1.2 million tons or approximately 34% of the total. This amount of waste would fill the Orange Bowl stadium.
Montenay process 4,200 tons per day.
During processing, Montenay recovers:
· 30,000 tons of steel
· 3,500 tons of aluminum
· 80,000 tons of high grade soil.
In one year, Montenay shreds and properly disposes of 12,000 tires
